Hi there, I’m Maria
I'm a project manager. a parent. An expat residing in Lisbon, Portugal.
Several years back I moved here with my family, and what started as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Pine Solstice Plume
Most information available online was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourist content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice grounded in real-life experiences in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism board resource
- Not a paid-review platform
- Not a general travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Portugal goes on, and the learning journey continues as well. As long as the information remains helpful, I will keep documenting what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Maria
